The oldest variant of Poker
5-card draw is the oldest variant of Poker and is mostly played in home games. It is not often played in casinos and tournaments thus it has lost popularity within the Poker-world.
5-card draw differs alot from the most common types of Poker like Texas Hold’em or Omaha. It can be played by 2-8 players. Each player is dealt 5 cards, all face down. The players pick up their cards and then the first round of betting occurs.
If more than one player remains after the first round, the “draw” phase begins. Each of the remaining players has to specify how of many of his 5 cards he wants to replace. After each the remaining player replaced their desired cards the next betting round occurs. After the betting, the remaining players reveal their cards and the player with the best hand wins.
5-card draw can also be alot of fun. If you are 2-8 players, just try it out you will definately like it.
